As they approach the halfway point in the season with eight league games remaining, there’s nothing to lose for West Seattle Junction FC. Currently sitting in seventh place in the NW Division of the Western Conference following their third defeat of the season, JFC is looking to bounce back and pick up three points as they prepare for their rematch against Lane United FC on the road on Tuesday, June 11th. The Eugene, Oregon-based team only sits one point ahead of JFC, meaning a win could launch JFC as high as third place in the table depending on other results across the league.
We got a chance to catch up with Head Coach Oman and some of the Junction FC players following their recent away trip to CFC Atletico. “We’ve had a couple unfortunate results in our last few games, but these guys are more than talented and capable enough to turn it around as we approach the halfway point in the season,” said Head Coach Oman when asked about the team’s mindset heading into Tuesday’s game. Jake Larson, one of the standout defenders within the squad, echoed those sentiments with some thoughts of his own. “We’re as good as anyone else that we matchup against. We just have to make sure we stay consistent and don’t fall victim to our own mistakes. We’re all talented, and we just need to remain focused with the remaining games we have left.”
A win on Tuesday night against LUFC would be significant for another reason as well, as it would mark the first time in West Seattle Junction FC’s history that they’d done the double over one of their opponents. Their last matchup against Lane United was a tightly fought contest, with JFC coming out on top with a 1-0 win. JFC’s backline came up big in that game to secure the win, as well as the club’s first ever clean sheet, which they’ll need to do again if they have hopes of heading back to West Seattle with all three points.
JFC will need all the support they can get to help secure all three points in their game against Lane United, so make sure to get down to Eugene or cheer on the lads via the livestream. Tuesday’s matchup will take place at Civic Park in Eugene, Oregon, with kickoff at 7:00 pm. Tickets can be purchased online.
