SEATTLE, Wash. — After coming up short in the dying minutes of last Saturday’s USL League Two season opener, West Seattle Junction FC is looking to bounce back and pick up their first points of the year on Friday evening when they welcome Lane United FC to Nino Cantu Southwest Athletic Complex.
With last weekend’s result in the rearview mirror, head coach Erik Oman and his squad know what they must do if they hope to emerge victorious against their Oregon-based opponents. “We have a tremendous amount of talent in this team; we just need to develop some understanding together about how to manage key moments in the game and be a bit more disciplined going to goal and finishing chances.”
Friday will mark Junction FC’s third matchup against Lane United, having come out on top in both contests during the Blues’ inaugural season in 2024. Fans will be quick to remember last year’s 3-2 win for Junction FC on the road in Eugene, which was capped off by former forward James Lear’s dramatic game-winner, when he fired his shot over Lane’s goalkeeper from nearly within his own half. Friday’s matchup will kickoff at 7:00 pm and is a “Blue Out”, with fans encouraged to wear all blue while bringing their West Seattle energy.
