Anticipation, excitement, and pride. All can be felt in the air around West Seattle, as the new USL League 2 season quickly approaches for the new kids on the block, West Seattle Junction FC.
Over the past nine weeks the coaching staff at Junction FC has built a team made up of some of the best young talents from across the country, with the goal of taking the NW Division of the Western Conference by storm. With the regular season on the horizon, Junction FC will first face a pre-season test in the form of local UPSL side Cultures United FC.
The matchup will take place at Junction FC’s home stadium – Chief Sealth Intl High School’s Nino Cantu Southwest Athletic Complex (2600 SW Thistle St, Seattle, WA 98126), on Sunday, May 5th at 2:00 pm. There will be no ticketing at the gate, so everyone who comes to the match will get in for free! This will be a great opportunity for people to come out and get a good look at the team while enjoying a few hours on a Sunday watching soccer with their friends and family.
There will be food and drink vendors at the game, as well as the club’s merchandise tent for fans to get decked out in Junction FC gear. “We’ve been working hard to get to this point,” said Head Coach Erik Oman when asked for his thoughts ahead of the team’s first game. “There’s been so much work done behind the scenes to make this season a reality, and this will be a great opportunity for our fans to get a sneak peek at the squad and get a feel for the season to come.”
