Despite only walking away from their last match with one point, West Seattle Junction FC continue to show just how much pride they play with each and every matchday. Wednesday night’s matchup against FC Olympia ended in a 1-1 draw, but fans were on the edge of their seats for the full 90 minutes. Hard tackles, near-missed chances, and excellent defensive efforts from Junction FC, which was capped off by a massive penalty save by goalkeeper Lucas Martin of Fort Lewis College late in the second half. Undefeated in their last four games, Junction FC is hoping to keep the momentum going as they prepare for another tough test on the road against United PDX this weekend.
Having drawn 1-1 against each other earlier in the season, Junction FC and United PDX both find themselves near the top of the NW Division of the Western Conference, with everything to play for in Saturday night’s game. Junction FC are heading into the game on the back of three wins and one draw in their last four games, while United PDX have won their last three games, including wins against Tacoma and Ballard FC. “The guys haven’t lost sight of what we can still achieve this season,” said forward Jacen Stein when asked about the team’s mindset going into Saturday night’s game. “We’ve proven that we can compete with anyone else in the division, and Saturday’s game won’t be any different.” Stein has been one of the standout attackers for Junction FC, having scored four goals in seven appearances this season.
Junction FC’s hopes for victory against United PDX will be boosted by the return of midfielder Julian Kuhr, who missed the last two games due to a suspension. The game will take place at Lincoln High School in Portland, Oregon, with kickoff at 7:00 pm. Those unable to attend the game will be able to live stream the match online.
